The Apollo 16 crew patch is dominated by an eagle perched atop a red, white and blue shield superimposed on a lunar scene, surrounded by a blue circle of 16 stars with the crew's surnames completing the bottom of the arc. Across the face of the shield is
a gold symbol of flight outlined in blue.

Apollo 16 astronauts captured this Earth rise scene with a handheld Hasselblad camera. Much of the terrain seen here is never visible from the Earth, as the command module was just passing into what is known as the dark side or far side of the moon.

The geocorona, a halo of low-density hydrogen around the Earth photographed by Commander
Young with a UV camera. Sunlight is shining from the left, and the geocorona is bright on that side.
